A Christmas song written and performed by two Glasgow teachers has already proven to be a runaway success. Phil Ford, 39, and Tim Kwant, 32 - also known as Lapwing - wrote 'Hope Christmas Gets You To Me' just a few weeks weeks ago, and it's already proving a hit. The song addresses the fact that so many people will be split up from their loved ones this year because of the pandemic but finishes with a hopeful message. LAPWING: HOPE CHRISTMAS GETS YOU TO ME

Verse 1:

A sparkle of light, in the dark of the year,
Like hope taking hold of your hand;
It’s a time full of laughter, and love without fear,
That this year, I now understand.

Chorus:
Cause I’m missing the touch of the ones that I love,
Couldn’t care less what’s under the tree.
I don’t know what I’m getting for Christmas this year,
But I’m hoping it gets you to me

Verse 2:
Outside it is snowing, the fire is glowing,
The old films repeat on TV,
But this I know only, without you I’m lonely,
Are you out there and thinking of me?

Chorus:
Cause I’m missing the touch of the ones that I love,
Couldn’t care less what’s under the tree.
I don’t know what I’m getting for Christmas this year,
But I’m hoping it gets you to me

Mid 8:
What are you asking for Christmas this year?
What is Christmas asking of you?
If it’s true in the giving, that life is worth living,
Then I’m sending my heart out to you.

Verse 3:
A sparkle of light, in the dark of the year,
Like hope taking hold of your hand;
It’s the promise of laughter, and love without fear,
The returning of joy to the land

Chorus:
I cant wait for the touch of the ones that I love,
Couldn’t care less what’s under the tree.
I don’t know what I’m getting for Christmas this year,
But I’m hoping it gets you to me.
